Most parts for our cars are still available making Triumphs good classic cars to own. Quality can be variable and may not be as good as the original – some prefer to refurbish rather than replace. Many parts are made in Asia. I believe poor quality may not be due to poor manufacturing standards but more likely to price constraints.

British Motor Heritage have useful links to BMH approved suppliers, both UK Specialists and nternational Specialists. I also list some UK specialists with whom I have had experience, not all are BMH approved but are still worth using!

Southside Classic & Custom, Ledsham, Wirral

They really worked wonders with my GT6 bodywork, paying particular attention to panel gaps.

James Paddock, Chester

Suppliers of Triumph & GT6 parts. Postage is a reasonable £5 for all orders. Good counter in Chester (not open week-end). Good stock & helpful staff. Prices are good, but quality is variable.

Rimmer Bros, Lincoln.

Supplier of GT6 and other classic car parts. Postage expensive, but good quality parts & good service. Counter in Lincoln (open Saturday morning). Best to buy during their frequent ‘Sales’.

Mike Papworth, Coventry

Legendary gearbox and transmission builder, a protégé of John Kipping. He has now retired but his Facebook page is still live so hopefully can still give advice.

Canley Classics, Fillongley, Warwickshire

Supplier of Triumph & GT6 parts, many uniquely to them. BMH Approved. Mail order only.

The Quickfit Safety Belt Service, Stanmore

They make period style seatbelts for classic cars (pre 1972).

Ian Gittings (Sponmon)

Ian Gittins makes superb special tools and refurbishes inlet manifolds to a very high standard. If anyone wishes to get in touch, the easiest way is through his Direct email address sponmon64@gmail.com or 07923 357039

Vehicle Wiring Products, Ilkeston

Good product range and very helpful staff.

Grove Components, Wirral

Supplier of fasteners, particularly stainless steel. Low postage and practically no minimum quantities. Good quality service from Tim Kendall. Prices can be high but you can buy small quantities so this saves money in the end.

ANG Classic Car Parts, Nottingham

A good alternative source of parts, some cheaper than the bigger suppliers.

Spax Performance, Bicester

They sell UK made shock absorbers for the GT6

Chris Witor, Somerset

Specialises in Triumph 2000/2.5, but a good range of 6-cylinder stainless steel and alloy parts at reasonable prices. Quality is good, too.

Biggred Calipers, Worcester

‘The UK’s Leading Brake Caliper Remanufacturer’. Better than those ‘new’ Chinese copies. Used by Practical Classics and Car SOS. However when they did mine, they did not fit new bolts connecting each half of the caliper.

Hamilton Classic Ltd, Hook

Car Covers and more!

Spitfire Graveyard, Sheffield

Good for second-hand Triumph & other car parts. Good service from owner Dave.

Classic Car LEDs, Cheltenham

Excellent supplier of LEDs etc, huge range. Owner Duncan Rickards very helpful, and free postage too!

Andrew Turner, Carburettor Specialist

Andrew specialises in reconditioning SU and Zenith carburettors. He has over 25 years knowledge and experience to assist him in producing first class solutions. You can buy Service Kits , Rebuild Kits as well as Reconditioned Units.

Stainless for Classics, Selston

Paul Copeland can even make one-offs, if you can give him a proper drawing.

TRBitz, Knutsford

In spite of their name, they will also work on other Triumphs. Owner Craig sorted out my gearbox, tuned the engine and set up the suspension so my car now runs beautifully!

There are many other suppliers who are most likely excellent but are not included in this list as I have no personal experience of them. Naturally this includes suppliers outside the UK.
